A controversial disallowed goal denied Brisbane FC Wolves their first win of the season against Brisbane City in their Premier League match at Carmichael Park on Saturday night.
After being locked at 1-all midway through the second half FC Wolves were robbed of the match winner when the referee ruled a hand ball.
Striker Sunny Isaac (pictured) finished a wonderful set piece from a corner with a powerful header, but the home side's celebrations were quickly cut short by the referee's whistle.
FC Wolves coach Sam Saif was bitterly disappointed with the decision and said the ruling was one of the worst he had seen in his career. However he preferred to look on the bright side that his side has not lost in three matches.
‘'It's unfortunate to be denied this way. I think the referee was the only person at the ground that thought it was a handball,'' Saif said. ‘'We're not getting any luck from refereeing decisions and this one was one of the worst.
‘'I thought we dominated the first half and were the better side by far. The second half was very scrappy and I think we deserved to win on the chances we had.
‘'We can't buy a win at the moment, but the pleasing thing is we're playing some good football and while we would much rather take maximum points that makes us unbeaten in three matches, against good sides.''
The home side appeared set for a win after Cadeau Aoci gave them a 1-0 lead just before halftime. City equalized in the 60th minute courtesy of a goal from former Brisbane Strikers NSL player Lawrence Drake.
Brisbane FC Wolves next match is against Peninsula Power at A.J. Kelly Field on Saturday.Kick off is 5.00pm.
