Brisbane FC Wolves have been boosted by the return home of attacking midfielder David 'DJ' Rowley (pictured), who is in line for a starting spot against Brisbane City at Carmichael Park on Saturday night.
The Brisbane Grammar student recently completed a European tour with the Australian Under 17 schoolboys, where he played matches in England, Ireland and Scotland in the three week tour.
FC Wolves coach Sam Saif said Rowley was being considered for a starting role after coming off the bench in the club's 2-all draw with Rochedale.
'DJ only flew home last week and did a good job for us when he came on. He's definitely in the mix for a start and I'm sure he'll keep improving as he gets to know the boys. He gives us some added depth and is what we want at the club, quality and youth.''
The Premier League coach was also pleased with the return of striker John Viney, who also made his first appearance against Rochedale. Viney transferred from Beenleigh and is a welcome asset according to Saif.
Saif is hoping of a repeat of last week's match with Rochedale, but with a slightly better outcome than a (2-all) draw.
''I thought the boys did a terrific job against on of the competition heavyweights. If we can repeat that form against Brisbane City I am confident of a favourable result. I'm sure it will be an entertaining match against a team coached by one of the former great players of the National League in Rod Brown.
''I really believe if we can play to the standard that we have set ourselves we can get a favourable result from the game. In all our four matches it's been a roll of the dice and unfortunately it has not fallen our way, but if we play the way we have in our first four a win is not far away,'' Saif said.
FC Wolves will be without Luke Fallini, who made his return from an ankle injury against Rochedale, which might have been a week early as it has flared up again.
Brown, in his second year at City, is expecting a tough match.
''I haven't seen FC Wolves play this year. They're starting to build and they've had some good results, they have a passionate coach in Sam (Saif) so I expect he'll fire them up and it will be a solid hard match,'' Brown said.
