Brisbane FC Wolves turned in a stunning performance to come from behind and snatch a point from defending champions Rochedale Rovers at Carmichael Park last Saturday night.
Midfielder Trent Clulow (pictured) snatched the equaliser with a minute to go.
In a hard fought contest FC Wolves came away with a 2-all draw against Rochedale and could have won the match if not for the heroics of Rovers keeper Mario Aparicio.
According to FC Wolves coach Sam Saif, Aparicio was the difference between the sides. However, Saif was happy to share the spoils with one of the competition heavyweights.
''I'm happy with a point, but I really think we had the chances to win it. Their keeper was outstanding and made some great saves to keep us out,'' Saif said.
''Overall it was a great effort by the guys, they were all superb, the entire squad turned in a magnficent spectacle.
''Our aim at the start of the season was to finish mid-table. We're a young side and although we haven't won a game yet I'm confident we can accomplish what we set out to do.''
Rochedale led 1-0 at halftime before FC Wolves striker Cadeau Aoci levelled the scores soon after the break. With 10 minutes to go Rochedale scored the go-ahead goal, but Brisbane FC knuckled down and kept pushing for the equaliser.
The skilful Clulow was the hero for the home side when he curled a free kick from 35 metres out into the net. The referee barely had time to restart before he blew the whistle for fulltime.
Brisbane FC 2 (C Aoci, T Clulow) drew Rochedale Rovers 2 (C Lovell, S Sargent).
