Toowoomba handed Brisbane FC a 2-0 loss and a huge wake up call in the FC Wolves final match before the start of the Premier League season.
The FC Wolves were not helped by the loss of Matty Lyell early in the first half, but it was a below par performance according to coach Sam Saif.
After the match several players were read the riot act by Saif. He was disappointed with players' attitude and lack of hunger. He said they must turn it around to be a chance of winning against Pine Rivers at Wendy Allison Park on Saturday.
''Toowoomba wanted to win, they turned up to play we didn't. A few of our guys just didn't show any desire, I told them after the game I'll look somehwere else for players if they perform like that, it's just not good enough.
''I don't want to have any bad games. But I suppose the last one before the start of the season might wake the boys up a bit. We can't go out and play like that and expect to compete with a team like Pine Rivers or anybody for that matter,'' Saif said.
Lyell is in doubt for the season opener against Rivers. He was flattened in a tackle and has an ankle injury. He may be sidelined for up to two weeks, but medical staff are hopeful the strong defender could be back sooner.
