Brisbane FC scored a confidence boosting 3-1 win over Mitchelton in their final round Silver Boot match at Richlands last Wednesday. They now meet Rochedale Rovers in a 'friendly' at Carmichael Park tomorrow (Saturday16th February).
Although missing four regular first team players Wolves dominated against Mitchelton. According to coach Sam Saif the scoreline could have been bigger had shots been on target.
''Overall I was very happy, but we missed too many chances. We had several players out for a variety of reasons and the boys that came in performed well. I thought we controlled the match until the last 10 minutes of the first half, when we let them get a goal back,'' Saif said.
''I like to use these pre-season matches to move players around and try them in different positions. It's also good for them to get used to each other, but in saying that it's always good to get a win, it was a good confidence booster.''
Saif has no doubts about the task at hand against defending champions of 'everything' Rochedale. He will again have several players unavailable, but will use that as an opportunity to try out some fringe players against Kieran Cooper's classy squad.
''They're the benchmark, so it will be good to see how some of the lads measure up and we can hopefully get a guide to where we're at. Coops has built a formidable squad, it won't be easy, but we're looking forward to the match.''
Kick-off is 5pm at Carmichael Park with reserves at 3.00pm and youth at 1.00pm.
